Poll: Would concerns over the environment prevent you from flying?

‘Flight shame’ has impacted flights to Ireland from some northern European countries this year.

RISING TEMPERATURES AROUND Europe and an increased conscientiousness in combating climate change have made some Europeans think twice about taking to the air this year. 

Though the airline industry says it is focused on lowering its carbon footprint, its emissions exceed all other mode of transport. 

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg, who has spearheaded a “trains-over-planes movement” in her home country, has made “flight shame” a real thing in her country.

According to a recent report from Tourism Ireland, concerns over the environment have prevented potential air travellers in the Dutch and Nordic markets from flying to Ireland – a trend that has been seen in other areas of Europe too.
