Poll: Could you work with your other half?

For some it’s a winning formula, but others say office and home life shouldn’t mix.

THEY SAY YOU should never mix business with pleasure, but for some couples, it’s a winning formula.

Just look at Dan and Linda Kiely, co-founders of outsourcing firm Voxpro, who last week proved that it’s possible to run a better business with your better half.

The Cork-based call centre company reported sales of more than €33 million in the last financial year, almost double what they made during the same 12-month period in 2014.

The Kielys are on track with their plans to scale operations around the world to keep up with demand from high-profile clients like Google, Airbnb and Stripe – not bad for a company that started life “above a pub in Cork city”.

Of course, sharing a work and private life with your other half isn’t for everyone. While it’s nice to share the good times and successes with someone you love, there are bound to be occasions when the lines between the office and home are blurred.

There’s always the risk that you’ll find it hard to differ between being business partners and being just partners and bring home all the stresses and strains that come with running your own business.

With Valentine’s Day this week, we’re asking Fora readers: Could you work with your other half?
