SOMETIMES EMPLOYEES ARE expected to burn the midnight oil.

An order is messed up, for example, and you need everyone on board to deal with the fallout. Or maybe the company has a big presentation coming up and none of the slides are ready.

Many workers will put in the extra hours to make sure stuff gets done in those situations.

But there are some people who seem to always be the last ones to leave the office, even on quiet days. They insist on clocking out long after everybody has gone home.

For employers, they could be seen as either dedicated worker who value their job over leisure time, or bad timekeepers who can’t get things done in eight hours.

Obviously, you want to hire people who are committed to your company – but only if they are actually productive with their time.
