These are the top skills Irish employers are looking for in new recruits
LinkedIn has crunched the numbers on the skills successful jobseekers are most likely to have.
TECH SKILLS DOMINATE the most sought-after attributes for new recruits as even traditional workplaces increasingly demand technology expertise.
According to an analysis from LinkedIn, which looked at the skills listed by members who started new jobs or caught the attention of recruiters between January and September, “cloud and distributed computing” topped the list of in-demand skills for the second year in a row.
The skill was also the most in-demand globally, while there was also a significant increase in the call for marketing and recruitment skills in Ireland – a rise LinkedIn said was a strong sign of Ireland’s economic recovery.
LinkedIn’s Irish top skills of 2016 are:
- Cloud and distributed computing (no change)
- Statistical analysis and data mining (no change)
- Web architecture and development framework (up three places from 2015)
- Network and information security (up one place from 2015)
- SEO/SEM marketing (fell two places since 2015)
- Marketing campaign management (new entry)
- Software revision control systems (up three places from 2015)
- Middleware and integration software (fell four places since 2015)
- Mobile development (fell one place since 2015)
- Recruiting (up six places from 2015)
Wendy Murphy, Senior HR Director, LinkedIn EMEA, said: “While some skills expire every couple of years, our data highlights the ongoing demand for tech skills across every industry in Ireland.
“While this is good news for science, technology, engineering, and math graduates, professionals going back to further education should consider these areas when considering which skills to acquire in order to be more marketable.”
