Web Summit is back hosting an event in Dublin and you're not invited
The events company is hosting a 36-hour conference just for tech engineers.
THE COMPANY BEHIND the Web Summit tech conference is hosting an “exclusive gathering” of technology officers from around the world in Dublin today.
The conference, dubbed 30T, is taking place across numerous venues over the next 36 hours and will see some leading chief technical officers (CTOs) take part in roundtable discussions, networking and the obligatory pub crawls.
Some people weren’t too impressed that they missed out on an invite to the 20-odd person event.
Although the meet-up itself is billed as an “exclusive” function, Web Summit co-founder Paddy Cosgrave did extend the invite to at least the bar-hopping component when the programme kicked off last night.
A Web Summit spokeswoman told Fora there could be further similar events held in the Irish capital in the pipeline, despite the company’s very vocal cheerleading for the new Portuguese destination for its flagship conference.
“Dublin is our home and it’s a great place to build events. The feedback from our CTO guests has been incredibly positive and it’s great to be hosting an event here again. We’re looking forward to more in the future,” she said.

One of the technology officers being shown the Dublin sights is Matthias Laug of Takeaway.com, which has raised €86 million in two funding rounds to date.
Fora also understands CTOs from high-profile tech startups, such as Irish peer-to-peer money transfer service CurrencyFair, UK-based hair and beauty marketplace Treatwell and the virtual fitting room service Metail, are among those in attendance.
