A second Ikea store is coming to Dublin this summer
The Carrickmines outlet will serve as a collection point for customers.
SWEDISH FLAT-PACK FURNITURE giant Ikea is planning to open a second outlet in Dublin this summer.
The retailer will launch its first ‘order and collection point’ in Ireland at The Park in Carrickmines.
Rather than carrying the chain’s full product range, customers will be able to order from the catalogue carried by Ikea’s main Dublin store at Ballymun for either delivery or collection from the second outlet.
In a statement, the Swedish company explained that the new store will act “primarily as a planning studio to plan and order more complex purchases such as kitchens, wardrobes and sofas”.
However, a small range of products will be available for customers to take home on the day of their visit and it will also stock a small selection of take-home Swedish food market products.
Ikea’s Jack Jackson said, “We want to make our products and services available to more people and we are really excited to be bringing this unique new format to the south side of Dublin.”
The company said it was starting recruitment for 30 multiskilled workers for the Carrickmines outlet.
