THE AGE OF hailing a self-driving taxi could be closer that you think, at least if Elon Musk is to be believed.
This week the Tesla chief executive said he expects his company to have self-driving “robotaxis” on the road by 2020 as he announced an improved microchip for its driverless vehicles.
Tesla is not alone; it is competing against companies such as Waymo and Uber to get the technology out to the mass market.
However, there are still plenty of technical and legal challenges ahead for driverless cars while it remains to be seen if the public is ready for the idea of the car being in control.
With that in mind, we’re asking Fora readers this week: Would you hail a robotaxi?
