Poll: Will you vote based on economic issues?

Will Ireland’s Election 2020 follow the political maxim that it’s ‘the economy, stupid’?

COINED DURING BILL Clinton’s successful 1992 presidential election by strategist James Carville as one of three pithy phrases to keep campaign staff on message, “the economy, stupid” has become a byword for conventional political wisdom. 

With a polling date set for Saturday February 8, Ireland’s political parties are about to find out if the maxim still holds. 

Economic numbers have been positive of late, but there is plenty of other issues at play, from housing policy to health to the climate crisis.  

Keeping this in mind, we are asking Fora readers this week: Will you vote based on economic issues?
