THE WORLD HEALTH Organisation recently included burnout in its classification of diseases as an “occupational phenomenon”.

It said that burnout is identifiable by a lack of energy, an increased mental distance from one’s job and a reduced interest in achieving an end goal.

Some of Ireland’s top recruiters told Fora that burnout could be due to a combination of stresses that people face amid the pressures of modern life.

The issue is receiving increased attention with more companies putting wellness support programmes in place to recognise and manage the symptoms.

With this in mind we’re asking Fora readers this week: Are you concerned your working life could lead to burnout?
