A NEW REPORT by business lobby group Ibec suggested that Irish households have never been wealthier.

The latest quarterly economic outlook published by the organisation, which represents employers in Ireland, predicted that the country’s economy will grow by 4.2% and could reach full employment by the end of this year.

It also said that a decade after the crash, the Republic has moved past the “recovery phase” and entered a period in which “the fundamentals of the Irish economy are very solid”.

In a follow-up analysis, Irish Times personal finance writer Fiona Reddan explained why some punters might not be feeling the recovery described in Ibec’s report.

Reddan pointed out that while Irish households have more savings than they have loans, as reported by Ibec, we are still heavily indebted, while many of the jobs created during the recovery have been casual or on short-term contracts.

With that in mind, we’re asking Fora readers this week: Do you feel like Ireland has recovered from the recession?
