Poll: Should lobby regulations be tightened up for government officials joining tech companies?

A number of former government staff have made the jump into tech.

WITH A NUMBER of government officials taking up jobs in the policy departments of big tech companies, there has been calls to tighten lobby rules in Ireland. 

In recent years, a number of former government staff have gone on to join companies such as Facebook and Google. 

According to a story in the Sunday Business Post at the weekend, when it comes to the question of whether an official requires a cooling off-period before working as a lobbyist, the law only looks at the official’s grade and not the policy area.
