WITH CHRISTMAS AROUND the corner and the annual office party festivities set to swing into motion, fashion chain stores will be getting fresh deliveries of seasonal jumpers.

While traditionally the gaudiest red jumper won applause among colleagues, this year things could be squaring up a little differently.

The pattern of making consumers feel guilty for choices has already hit the aviation industry, as activists such as Greta Thunberg brought renewed attention to the climate crisis.

Aviation is not alone, in recent months the fast fashion industry’s sustainability and greenhouse gas emissions have also come under scrutiny. Over the weekend H&M boss Karl-John Persson spoke out against the behaviour of shaming consumers, saying it “may lead to a small environmental impact, but it will have terrible social consequences”.

Keeping this in mind, we are asking Fora readers this week: Would concerns over the environment prevent you from buying fast fashion?
